The Blanket Buddies club was formed in 2001 as a service group whose mission is to make quilts for children and people in need. Over the years Blanket Buddies has donated quilts to an orphanage in Tennessee, a Veterans' home in Indiana, the Free Clinic of Manassas, and many newborn babies.
Students use five inch squares, which are sewn together in a pattern with polyester fiberfill and backing fabric. Each corner is tied and the perimeter of the quilt is hand sewn. Quilts are signed "Blanket Buddies" with the year.
Participating students are able to socialize while participating in these Corporal Works of Mercy. Each year a group of students begins the process of serving others in this ministry.
